Ambiances de collection

Je vous en parlais dans mon billet précédent: ma collection capsule In The Mood For Boheme pour Artisans d’Angkor a vu le jour en décembre dernier au Cambodge. Elle connaît depuis une belle floraison, puisqu’après être vendue en édition limitée à la boutique Artisans d’Angkor de Phnom Penh, elle sera bientôt au First Floor, le concept store de la rue 240 toujours à Phnom Penh, jusqu’au printemps de cette année.

Dessiner une collection est un long et passionnant processus. Au départ, c’est un travail solitaire: croquis des silhouettes, recherche d’inspirations et de matières, dessin des imprimés iconiques, mise en couleurs… Une fois les dessins validés, on passe à une phase de travail collectif. J’ai beaucoup aimé collaborer avec Sareth, la chef prototypeuse. Son amour du travail bien fait, sa patience et son souci du détails m’ont ravie. Si la collection dans sa forme définitive est une réussite, c’est grâce à toute la formidable équipe d’Artisans d’Angkor. C’est aussi ce qui fait la richesse de projets comme celui-ci, quand on fait le choix du fait-main et de l’artisanat : l’échange et l’humain. I have told you about it in my previous post: my capsule collection In The Mood For Boheme for Artisans Angkor was brought to light last December 2012 in Cambodia. It knows now a beautiful bloom, since the limited edition has been sold in the Artisans Angkor flagship store in Phnom Penh, it will soon be at First Floor, the Street 240 concept store still in Phnom Penh, until next Spring this year.

Designing a collection is a long and exciting process. Initially, it is a lonely job: drawing silhouettes, looking for inspiration and fabrics, draw the iconic prints, coloring … Once the designs validated, you then move to a collective work phase. I really enjoyed working with Sareth, the pattern-making chief. Her love of well done work, know-how, patience and attention to details have delighted me. If the finalized collection is a success, it is all thanks to the wonderful Artisans Angkor team. This is also what makes the richness of projects like this one, when you make ​​the choice of handmade and crafts: sharing knowledge and working with people.
